About Human Urban
A portal for reflection and musings about cities and urban development, Human Urban is a collection of community sites linked by the fact that each, in its own way, talks about the cities of yesterday and the megalopolises of today.
Via a survey on women in the city conducted by the Observatory of Urban Lifestyles, an exhibition on “The Street” at the MHEU, an interview with Thierry Paquot, professor at the Paris Institute of Urbanism, or a Green Book of “green” initiatives in cities, Human Urban asks questions, gives a voice to people with points of view to share, sparks discussion and participates in the general debate on the future of large urban areas.
Half of the planet’s residents now live in cities. Yet each year some cities lose part of their population to others. Why? What draws people to one city and drives them away from others? Is it a city’s architecture, local economy, cultural activities, size, inhabitants, history, public transit system or a ready housing supply that accounts for its appeal?
Will the whole world be urban one day? Is there a chance trends could reverse?
Human Urban aims to explore all of these topics with you, at this portal specially created by Veolia Environnement.
